How do I know a rug is genuinely hand-knotted?
Look at the back. On a hand-knotted rug the pattern reads as clearly from behind as from the front, and the knots are visibly slightly irregular. A machine-made rug has a uniform grid and often a fabric backing glued on. We publish a photograph of the back of every rug for exactly this reason.
What size rug do I need?
Under a dining table, allow 60 cm clear on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. In a living room, either put the front legs of all seating on the rug or all legs on — half-on-half-off is what makes a room look unfinished. Every listing gives dimensions in centimetres and in feet.
Do you disclose gemstone treatments?
Always, on every stone, including the untreated ones where the value reads None. Heat treatment is normal, stable and does not make a stone lesser. An undisclosed fracture fill does. A blank treatment field on any gemstone listing would be a bug, not a claim.
Is the piece I am looking at the exact piece I receive?
Yes. Almost everything here is one of a kind, photographed individually and measured by hand. There is no stock photography and no representative sample.
What happens if a piece sells while it is in my cart?
Availability is re-checked when the order is placed, not when the item was added. If someone completes checkout first, your order fails with a clear message rather than being accepted and cancelled later. We cannot sell one object twice.
Can I commission a piece?
Yes. Sold pieces stay on this site partly so you can point at one and ask for something similar. A commissioned hand-knotted rug takes months, not weeks, and we will tell you honestly how many before you commit.
How do returns work?
7 days from delivery, in original condition. Rugs must not have been cut, washed or altered. Tell us before sending anything back so we can arrange the collection.
