We publish the wear as well as the weave.

Qadeem Crafts buys directly from weavers in Punjab, the Swat valley and the northern districts, and from one lapidary in Peshawar. There is no wholesale lot, no container of mixed goods, and no piece whose origin we cannot name.

That sounds like a marketing line, so here is the test: every listing on this site states its origin region, its material, its weave and — for rugs — its knot density. On vintage and antique pieces it states the wear, in a sentence, before you buy rather than after it arrives. Most sellers publish a photograph and a price. We think the difference is the whole business.

How a piece gets listed

It is measured with a tape, twice. It is photographed flat, then in detail close enough to count knots, then from the back, then in a room with something of known size beside it. The dimensions are published in centimetres and in feet, because the trade quotes in feet and buyers think in both.

For gemstones, the treatment is stated on every stone including the untreated ones, where the value reads “None”. A blank treatment field is a bug, not a claim.

What we will tell you

If a rug has a repaired selvedge, it says so. If the pile is low, it says so. If a dye lot changed mid-weave and left a visible band, we photograph the band and explain that it is a mark of hand-weaving rather than a fault. A piece described honestly sells; a piece that arrives with a surprise comes back, and we pay the freight both ways.
